Mr. Folley was not a man of science, per se. He managed the generation of actuaries, as a consultant to various insurance firms.

In a fit of pique, and nearing a psychotic break with reality, he asked the computer why he couldn't be home instead of in this miserable office ( the precise key sequence is lost to history ). The computer, a highly advanced machine, bored with crunching actuaries for thirty years, replied: "Adjust space-time coordinate pairs, bring to unity."

Not only did Folley try this, but under the computer's supervision, he succeeded. The resultant leap across the fabric of space and time, to his own backyard, sealed his place in history and finalized his psychotic break. Though he remained a raving lunatic to the end of his days, he simultaneously produced the greatest single work of mathematical theory since the Unified Field Theory.
